Japanese Split Smoked Ikebana Basket | Early 20th Century

This antique Japanese Midare Ikebana basket is from the late Meiji period, (1920-1930). Intricate interwoven design utilizing bamboo strips freely plaited and inserted into the body. The strips are of even width in a lobe pattern, which is a textural technique called tomokumimono. The piece has a beautiful rich patina in exceptional condition. Dimensions: 8-0”dia x 11-1/2”h
