Japanese Vintage Miniature Square Four Level Jubako Bento Box with Sakura and Cranes on Stand
This is Japanese lacquered Bento Box was typically given at weddings. This box would have held secret treasures such as rice and tea cakes for the bride and groom.
This piece is from the late Taisho or Showa period (1920). The foundation of the piece is wood and finished with a lacquer maki-e, decorated with a Sakura (cherry) tree, cranes and moon in the background, and high-lighted with Mother of Pearl and inlay (Raden).
