Set of Five Japanese Gingko Chopstick rests in Porcelain | New

Pictured is a set of porcelain chopstick rests, (hashioki), used to keep chopstick tips off the table and to prevent used chopsticks from contaminating or rolling off tables. This particular set is in beautiful, excellent condition with a silver and red glazing emphasizing the gingko design.

Additional Information—

Chopstick rests come in various shapes and designs, and are made from clay, wood, plastic, metal, glass, porcelain or precious stones such as jade. In Japan, chopstick rests are usually used at formal dinners. They are placed on the front-left side of the dinnerware, with the chopsticks parallel to the table edge and the points toward the left.
