Offered is a delightful Japanese translucent Celadon color enameled porcelain figure of the goddess of mercy seated in a Mudra, (Lotus position) on a pedestal decorated with a wave motif. She is clothed in a flowing robe which is open at the chest to reveal a beaded necklace. Her contemplative face is lowered with a peaceful expression with her hair is swept up into an elegant Chignona under her hood. There are Mandela jewels above her forehead, slightly showing her hair and hair ornamentation. Both hands are beneath her robe with one leg bent and one foot exposed. The piece is unsigned.

Kannon remains in this world to comfort sentient beings. Perhaps because of the maternal, feminine traits and gentle expressions. Figures of Kannon inspire greater affection in Japan than any other Buddhist figures.

Condition: Excellent condition for the piece is perfect, with no scratches, or missing elements, and is in perfectly cared condition. It has a beautiful age retaining the original craftsmanship. Meets the standards of the collector of Japanese religious arts.
