Well carved boxwood netsuke in the form of Onna Daruma (Female Daruma) with an exceptionally detailed and loving facial expression enveloped in the characteristic robe with delicate folds and cowl. The carving is fine incision work, very effectively and appealingly to render the piece life-like. She has detailed feet on the bottom of the carving with two Himotoshi (drilled holes, one slightly larger and carved into the netsuke for the passage of a cord). Comes on an original carved wood stand. Signed.
Condition: Excellent condition meaning no imperfections are found, with great color and patina and a good addition to any collection of these fascinating figures. Meets the standards of the collector of the Japanese wood carved folk art.
