The interior motif is framed by a concave interior lip, which goes around the entire interior surface. The back of the bowl has convex detail ribbing giving further dimension to the piece, and finished in a polished deep wine red lacquer, which continues onto the interior lip of the bowl. It has three elevated feet, marked S2K. The stand is not included.

Vintage Condition: Excellent with perfect painted detail work with no damage to any part of the decorative interior. “As is”, and retains the original craft/workmanship. Any discoloration, chipping/cracking, surface wear or structural damage noted.

NOTE: This style emphasizes surface embellishment, drawing heavily on the colors and styles of some of the early modern art movements, from Impressionism through Cubism. This Japanese period shows a wide range of objects and mediums including but not limited to lacquerware and woodblock prints, and introduces a range of spectacular craftsmanship and sophisticated designs representing Japan’s contribution to the movement.
