These two tall Chinese display tables are made of rosewood. They are expertly detailed with elaborate pierced lattice work below the stylized apron, and a pierce platform between the stretchers in a Ruyi vine motif looks rather like a vine or cloud and beautifully finished. Each display architectural richness of form and decorative motif seen in wooden window lattices and furniture of the period.

The Ruyi motif is typically used as a Buddhist traditional motif which came to symbolize wealth and power. Delicate detailing exhibits the fine Chinese artisanship of this classic style of display furniture. These as with other similar display pieces were used to protect and feature cherish objects made of ceramic, porcelain, jade and stone.
