This Japanese Kutani Porcelain Suiteki, or Water Dropper, for Calligraphy, is the image of a Rabbit with white glazing and round patches of modeled brown overglaze adding dimension to the fur. He has small dots for eyes, short ears with great detail, and attention to modeling. A suiteki is a water dropper, that has two holes for filling, and pouring water on the ink stone for calligraphy. The piece is usigned on the bottom, but the Kutani family has been operating their business since the turn of the century, with many well-known potters in the family. Earlier pieces were unsigned except for those Japanese buyers who not only wanted the piece signed but also Kiriwood box, as well as later export pieces that were signed for identification purposes.

Condition: Mint condition and as originally crafted and in perfect condition retaining the beautiful crafting of this rare rabbit. No chips, cracks, or breaks, and wonderful to hold and control water output.
Additional Information: Kutani ware: Kutani ware is Japanese porcelain made in Kaga province and now in Ishikawa Prefecture. The name Old Kutani refers to porcelain decorated with heavily applied overglaze enamels, which were produced in the Kaga mountain village of Kutani.
