This pair of hand-made Chirimen Chestnut ornaments employs a silk fabric with crimps on the surface (often silk). The art of Chirimen transforms mere scraps of this textured crepe fabric into adorable, hand-sewn ornaments. The larger piece had a silk rust seed nut and yellow silk involucre scales cap with small bumps. The small piece in olive green silk with a brown crochet simulated involucre scaled cap.
Scraps of the beautiful and precious fabrics were used throughout history to make kimono inspired the first Chirimen crafts. Condition: Excellent, as made, unused with no fading to the fabric.
