This one piece Bamboo Kimono Tray was made around 1930. It was standardly used by the household as a kimono storage container, and use for protection of the garments. The loose weaving of the bamboo allows for air circulation in the humid Asia Pacific regions. Some trays had lids if the tray was in the open area to keep off the dust. Typically the tray would be placed in a kimono tansu, sized to match the tray to easily remove kimono, or placed on a shelved wall, so that the kimono to be worn could be easily identified by the Geisha’s attendant, who is assisting her while dressing.

Vintage Condition: Excellent as originally made. “As is” with no flaws or cracking, (particularly on the corners), affects from aging, and retains the original craft/workmanship.
