Offered is a small beautifully molded and formed resin, (referred to as Urushi no ki) netsuke figure made from the sap of the urushi tree in the image of Daruma, an ecstatic Buddhist monk. Netsuke was Initially a simply-carved button fastener on the cords of an inro box,(a Japanese case for holding small objects, suspended from the obi worn around the waist when wearing a kimono). Good Luck symbol on the back of the netsuke with the himotoshi for attaching to the cord on the bottom.
Condition: Expertly detailed, excellent condition, gentle wear and remains a work of art on its own which collectors love to display.
