Offered is an unusual pair of Japanese Kutani porcelain scroll weights (fuchin), intricately hand-painted with the image of Daruma, (Daruma is a symbol of perseverance and staying on the path) artistically incorporated onto the face of an egg shape form on a white background. This is one of Kutani's most recognized and beloved figures in Japanese history. The traditional Japanese scroll is not complete without scroll weights attached to the scroll's bottom end roller to straighten the scroll, steady it in the breeze and help accentuate the Tokonoma where they are typically hung. The hassles are authentically Japanese hand-woven silk decorative tassels in a deep purple accented with gold beads from which the tassel hangs. They come in their original round bamboo presentation box.
Condition: Excellent as originally made with silk hassles in perfect condition. Rare, unique and unusual to find Daruma scroll weights.
