Antique Japanese Carved Scholars brown Inkstone, Early 19th century, simple rounded teardrop form with delicately carved rock motif surrounding all edges, matted natural surface of igneous rock, central flat grinding area for inkstick, for Shido calligraphy.

Condition: This is an excellent old surface, hand crafted, that functions as intended. It retains its two and a half century old warm patina and remains in fine original antique condition.
