Dimensions: 15-1/4”h

This is an extremely futuristic looking doll by one of Japan's “silent” Kokeshi artisans, having created few pieces, but having received top awards at All Gunma Regional Kindai Kokeshi Contest. Unfortunately we can find very little biographical information on this artist. But this does not stop us celebrating this wonderful lathe-turned carving in its very minimalistic form and detailing.

She has a beautifully formed head with an expression on her face framed with hair fringes with her ears minimally defined and  a simple white drip for her nose and thin deep set appearing eyes. Her head floats delicately above her beautifully formed shoulders that flows into her undulating and undecorated torso emphasizing the wood grain from which it was made. The base of doll bears the artist's hand-written signature and applied personal seal.

Condition: Excellent and commensurate with age with minor imperfections, (surface nicks). Wonderful workmanship, turning and semi-e like painted features.
