Vintage Japanese Auspicious Porcelain and Coral Necklace / Pendant
Dimensions: 21-0”l
The necklace being offered is beautifully constructed incorporating Coral beads which are said to protect against harm, danger, accidents, financial losses, and illness. Additionally, the artist used a large white porcelain bead with the motif of two matching images of Koi symbolizing harmony, friendship, and everlasting love, conveying respect and adoration towards that person. Separating these elements are both bone elements and coral discs and beads. Last but not least symbolizing transformation is an elaborately carved olive pit, which is an ancient technique in Asian culture and depicts a human wearing formal garments. All strung on a simple black silk cord with a knotted tassel symbolizing good luck (Kōun o).
Condition: This elaborate but understated necklace is in excellent condition and creatively executed and arranged showcasing the skillful artistry of the maker.
