Koshu | "Dojo"

Dimensions: 3-0” w x 6-1/2” h

This a beautiful, high fashion female character is shown with a traditional top bun. Her suggested eyes, nose and hair are quite expressive in a sumi-e’ style fashion. Her quilted Overcoat, (Obakoto or Hanten), has a stand up high collar with slits, and accomplished through the use of horizontal carved ribbing and finished in a deep red lacquer. The piece has the artist’s signature on the bottom, but unable to translate.

Vintage Condition: “as is” showing normal wear of the lacquer on the ribbing, but retaining the original workmanship. Any discoloration, chipping/cracking, surface wear or structural damage noted.
