Vintage Traditional Yamagata Ejiko with Toys entitled: Oyone by Kobayashi, Seijiro

This is a rare, beautiful small Yamagata by Kobayashi Seijiro (b.1918-) is a container to hold miniature toys, (seven (8) child-made toys included: geta, lion, bird, woven geta toggle, bag, kite, red lantern, and a double seed pod rattle) in which the head and shoulders are made to be a removable lid. The motif represents an abstract plum blossom, painted in red with green leaves. The face incorporates the traditional bangs, side fringes; tear-drop shaped nose. Made from Mizuki wood that incorporates chattering, (carving) on the top and bottom of the container. The piece is signed and dated on the bottom by the artist.
Vintage Condition: Excellent with minimal wear, loving care, and retains the original craft/workmanship.
