Offered is a very rare Ejiko and rare because the baby is a miniature that can be removed from the body of the Ejiko and fully complies with the characteristics of a full size Kokeshi. All Ejiko follow the same basic short, rotund style with a separate, upper part of the body, (neck and head), and in this case wood that has been decorated with a chrysanthemum and leaves on the body. The mother head moves freely, (bobble head) has bangs split in two with side hair fringes, thin narrow eyes, a split-type nose. The figure is made of cherry wood, (Sakura) and is signed by the artist on the bottom of the doll.

Any member of a Kokeshi-making family can make an Ejiko doll, and the doll will still retain the artist’s characteristics of design as applied to the standard, traditional Kokeshi made by the family. The later was accepted by collectors as its own entity, and as a traditional doll in its own right.
