Shown is a wonderful earthenware Cinnabar glazed teacup and saucer with a pewter stylized Camellia blossom on the body and lip of each piece. Both pieces are beautifully proportioned and finished in a soft glaze, muted glaze. The soft, stretched silhouette has been popular for over 30 years. Each piece signed on the bottom by the artist.
Seasons are the main theme in Japanese culture. Flowers are like mirrors to the seasons, reflecting the passage of time. The word "tsubaki" means camellia in Japan. Camellias have been favored as one of the flowers appropriate for tea ceremonies or tea houses. It became a status symbol for cultural figures and the general public to have camellias.
Every year Yoshinobu jointly hosts a feast with a renowned Chef that incorporates his ceramic work into an artistic event. Yoshinobu states: ‘“hope my customers enjoy using the ceramic pieces and vessels, which are handcrafted and meant to convey the warmth of both hands.”
